Equipement Ray-Jo has been in the restaurant and foodservice industry for over 30 years.

First specializing in food retail weighing solutions, the company decided to diversify its line of products in 1993, and launched the Fritou fried chicken concept. Initially introduced in the province of Québec, the quality of the Fritou products and the appeal of not being a franchise soon contributed to the chain's ongoing success across Canada.

Over the years, Fritou has continued to solidify its position as a leader in the fried chicken market in Canada. Here are some quick facts on Fritou's evolution across the country:

  • 1993 : The first Fritou fried chicken site opens in the province of Québec
  • 1994 : Evolution in Ontario
  • 1995 : Introduction to the New Brunswick market
  • 1996 : Introduction to the Nova Scotia market
  • 2002 : Breakthrough in western Canada, British Columbia
  • 2003 : Intensive development in Alberta
  • 2005 : Debut in Saskatchewan



An evolving menu

At first, the menu offered to our clients consisted of our famous chicken pieces served with fries, Fritou sauce and coleslaw. Then, at the beginning of the new millenium, delicious new products were gradually added to our menu:

Propelled by these innovations, the Fritou chain is brought to a turning point in 2004 and opens its first Fritou Signature restaurant, an establishment entirely dedicated to selling Fritou fried chicken products.

Over the years, Fritou has proven itself to be a profitable chain for owners selling our products and has gained an enviable reputation in the Canadian market. Our focus when developing new products has always been on great tasting products concocted with ingredients of the finest quality.
